They have issued stores with 15,000 special labels, featuring a warning to youngsters and a unique bar code which helps trace drinks back to
where they were bought.
The Operation Buzzer scheme has also
issu ed 3,000 colour-coded carrier bags, which feature anti under-age drinking messages.

Detective Inspector Duncan MacNay, crime reduction officer for West Yorkshire Police, said: "We believe this scheme has significant potential to help identify and deter those supplying alcohol to young people, as well as cutting the rate of under-age drinking.
"We will be monitoring the results of how well this new initiative performs in north east Leeds with a view to introducing it throughout West Yorkshire."
The labels are said to be hard to remove and freezer resistant.
