Asda strengthens BWS team

24 October, 2008

Asda has appointed a new development manager for its beers, wines and spirits team.

David Leigh was most recently category marketing controller for Grampian Country Foods but began his career with Asda in 1996 with a one-year placement as regional marketing assistant.

He will work alongside Asda’s dedicated BWS trade teams, liaising closely with Philippa Carr and Karen Doran in the wine department and CJ Antal-Smith in beers and spirits.

He is responsible for delivering “customer-led initiatives and market-leading growth”, the retailer said.

His appointment comes at a time when Asda is reporting growth of 21.6% (TNS ,12 week value sales to Oct 5) across BWS.

Leigh said: “I’m delighted to be joining Asda at such an exciting time. We’ve just introduced some brilliant changes to our BWS ranges and we’re seeing some stunning growth. My new role will ensure our customers are at the heart of everything we do as we deliver new category initiatives.”
