The Society of Independent Brewers will hold its next national conference in Stratford-upon-Avon on Mar 5-6, 2009. The two-day event will begin with the society's annual general meeting and will also feature speakers with a diverse range of interests in the brewing industry.

Sharp's brewery in Cornwall is claiming to be the first in the south west to switch to new lightweight glass bottles. The new 50cl package is 11 grams lighter and is already bring used for Doom Bar. Other brands will follow in the coming months.

East Yorkshire's Great Taste award-winning Wold Top Brewery has launched a yuletide gift pack of real ales from the Yorkshire Coast. The packs comprise four 50 cl bottles in a choice of All Year Round Favourites or Seasonal Specials and are available from woldtopbrewery.co.uk.

More than 7,000 people attended a Wembley Arena gig celebrating 75 years of Singha Beer. Free concerts in Sydney, LA, New York and London were held to thank Thailand's communities for their support.

Low-calorie cider Magners Light is now available across the UK in the on and off-trade. Magners said it will support the national roll-out with a total spend of £3 million . This will consist of targeted TV and press advertising and a comprehensive sampling campaign, which start in December.

Waitrose is stocking one of Sweden's most famous beers - God Lager.Meaning "good" , the pilsner style beer is described as "well -balanced with malty sweetness and a hoppy dryness to finish". It is unpasteurised, 5.3% abv, 33 cl, and has an rrp of £1.49.
