Availability is the most obvious and yet critical component for success at Christmas. We know that if shoppers cannot find their preferred brand of spirits, 46% will not buy a different brand or variant. Furthermore, 11% of wine and spirits shoppers would leave the store to buy elsewhere if their preferred brand wasn't available . So keep products visible and in stock - any out-of-stocks will lose valuable custom.

Looking back to look forward

Wine is a liquid time capsule. Drinking older vintages not only recalls the weather conditions and winemaking styles of the past, it encourages us to reflect upon our own histories. Such reminiscence often inclines towards romanticised nostalgia. Especially after the second bottle. But looking back is a great way of learning about the future.
