How are Christmas sales going?

"Ver y good - people seem to be treating themselves more so we are selling some expensive items. Most of our customers are going for multipacks and are looking for bargains though."

Will Slater

Rosevean Off-licence

"Trading isn't so good compared with last year because of the credit crunch. Also we are in a student area, so I don't think things will really pick up over Christmas as they all go home. But we will get by."

Moira Smale

"I'd better watch my language. It's been rubbish. So far sales are down 10%, but we've been down year on year for the past few years because of the supermarkets. I am going to go out of business at this rate."

Ian Gibson

Alder Road Off-licence

Dorset

"It's quiet - very quiet. The main things affecting us are obviously the credit crunch and supermarket prices. I don't think things will pick up for us that much."
