New design for Grand Siècle

Champagne house Laurent-Perrier has unveiled a new label design and gift box for its Grand Siècle cuvée.

A spokeswoman said: “The new black monochrome gift box has a contemporary edge that reflects Laurent-Perrier’s commitment to forward-thinking design. It includes a solar emblem denoting the French ‘Sun’ King Louis XIV – a symbol of high art.”

The new Grand Siècle is available in Harrods, Fortnum & Mason, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols, priced at £120 for a 75cl bottle.

Laurent-Perrier has partnered with luxury crystal house Baccarat for a limited edition Écrin Grand Siècle, available at Harrods for £1,600. The gift box holds a magnum of Grand Siècle and a collection of six Champagne flutes by Baccarat.

Wine is a liquid time capsule. Drinking older vintages not only recalls the weather conditions and winemaking styles of the past, it encourages us to reflect upon our own histories. Such reminiscence often inclines towards romanticised nostalgia. Especially after the second bottle. But looking back is a great way of learning about the future.
