S&N gets eye of the Tiger

12 January, 2009

Scottish & Newcastle UK is to take over the exclusive import, marketing and distribution rights for Tiger beer in the UK from March 2.

Tiger is brewed by Singapore-based Asia Pacific Breweries, which is jointly owned by S&N UK parent company Heineken.

S&N UK will take over from Surrey-based Tiger Beer UK, which also has the UK distribution rights to New Zealand brew Monteith’s, Heineken-owned French beer Desperados and Viru from Estonia. Future arrangements for these beers are not yet clear.

Jonathan Townsend, S&N UK’s speciality brands director, said the company was taking over a brand with “power and potential”.

He added: “Tiger already enjoys a loyal consumer following in the UK. By accessing S&N’s on and off-trade distribution network, Tiger will now be able to realise its massive potential in this market.”
