Litherland to replace Slay at Diageo GB

Simon Litherland has been appointed as managing director for Diageo GB.

He will replace Benet Slay, who has been named as managing director for Diageo Northern Europe., a hub including France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, the Nordics and Benelux.

Both appointments take effect from July 1.

Slay has been in his GB role since July 2006.

Litherland will move from his role as managing director for Brandhouse South Africa, a joint venture between Diageo, Heineken and Namibia Breweries.

Slay will retain his place as trustee of the Drinkaware Trust.

Rosé tinted glasses

I was asked recently what I thought the biggest change had been in wine fashion in the past five years. My answer was unequivocal: sales of pink wines. From being a niche that expanded and contracted with the sunshine, rosé has subtly but steadily become a stalwart of many merchants’ ranges, with Provence firmly at the top and asked for by name.
