Constellation opens bottling hub

17 February, 2009

Constellation will be bottling all its high-volume Australian wines in the UK after opening a state-of-the-art bottling and warehousing hub in Avonmouth, near Bristol.

The company said the new 80,000 sq m development – dubbed Constellation Park – is the biggest wine warehouse and distribution centre in Europe, and it will employ around 300 people.

Constellation has invested some £44 million in the project.

Two bottling lines and three bag-in-box lines will enable the company to bottle up to 9 million 9-litre cases a year, and bulk shipping will cut its carbon footprint.

The building also uses rainwater harvesting and sensor-controlled lighting to make it more sustainable.
