Premium launch for Arniston Bay

15 March, 2009

A premium version of Arniston Bay has been launched in the off-trade in a move which adds more depth to the South African wine brand’s range.

Arniston Bay Reserve is a collection of premium, single varietal wines from South Africa. Two styles are being made available in the UK off-trade – Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz – though the Company of Wine People says further varietals are available to retailers on request.

The wines have a recommended retail price of £6.99.

UK brand and business development manager Barney Davis said: “We’ve been working to further develop the Arniston Bay range and widen its appeal to both consumers and retailers.

“We saw a fine wine offering as an essential part of our brand overhaul and we are very pleased with the results. The Arniston Bay Reserve wines are made with the highest quality grapes sourced from the Western Cape of South Africa. They are crafted in a classic, fruit-driven style with intense flavour.”

OLN’s Brands Report on March 13 listed the best-selling South African brands in the off-trade as Kumala, First Cape and Namaqua.

English wine: a happy harvest for Christmas

Happily they come, their cheeks ruddy with pride. Half an hour later they’re crawling over muddy clods with lacerated hands, drenched in claggy juice and cold sweat, as if ploughing through an endurance race.
