Jewell takes on Spar role

Ex Sainsbury's wine buyer Laura Jewell MW is joining Spar in May as its wine trading controller. Jewell is currently with agency firm HWCG as agency director. The move comes as the group reports "above aver age" wine sales, against the rest of the market. Licensed trading director Chris Lewis said: "This is great news for our retailers, RDCs and suppliers as consumers are recognising that we offer good value on a great range of wine in our stores. The growth is not just from entry -level wines, but from all price points, as consumers focus more on entertainment at home, rather than in a pub or restaurant."
