24 April, 2009

Cornish brewer Sharp's and celebrity chef Rick Stein have collaborated on their second bottled ale.

Chalky's Bark is a

successor to Chalky's Bite - both beers named in honour of Stein's Jack Russell who died two years ago.

The new beer has an abv of 4.5% and has been brewed using fresh ginger,

to mak e it a match for spicy food.

Stein said: "I wanted it to complement a range of

South east Asian recipes I have been working on.

"Chalky's Bark is a beer fragrant with hops but, at 4.5%, something you can enjoy a couple of bottles of.

It

has a lot of bark but not quite so much bite."

Sharp's director Joe Keohane said: "The link-up with Rick was a natural one given that he champions quality local produc ts.

"We are confident it will enable us to do more in the area of beer and food matching, which is an exciting development for consumers who enjoy quality products."
