PET project results in La Perle roll out

27 March, 2009

A new range of French wines says it will give customers the convenience and environmental credentials of PET without compromising style or quality.

Roger Harris Wines and Paul Sapin have teamed up to launch La Perle, a range of three varietal wines from the south of France - Chardonnay, Merlot and Syrah rosé.

PET bottles in 75cl, 25cl and 18.7cl sizes are lightweight, unbreakable, and prove to keep wine fresh for at least two years, according to the producers.

Roger Harris Wines sales director Clare Montgomery said: "The wine is perfect for venues that have outside bar and drinking areas .

"On the shelf, the bottle looks just like glass, yet it is safe, won't break and has a plastic screwcap, making it

easy to serve and then re-seal. The entire bottle, including the cap, is 100% recyclable."

A Wine Intelligence survey in 2007 found that 60% of regular wine drinkers would buy wine in PET for outdoor occasions.

Rosé tinted glasses
