S&N opts for ‘greener’ packs

11 May, 2009

Scottish & Newcastle UK is to replace the cardboard packaging for some packs of it major brands with collated film wraps.

The move is designed to be more environmentally-friendly and increase consumer convenience.

The new style will cover 8 x 44cl and 12 x 44cl packs of Kroenbroug, and 4 x 50cl packs of Foster’s and Strongbow from this month.

The 8 x 44cl pack for Foster’s and Strongbow will follow in July and August respectively.

Shaun Heyes, S&N UK’s head of category marketing and of customer marketing for the off-trade, said: “Collated film packs offer a number of benefits, primarily the opportunity to meet the demands from customers and consumers to provide less packaging and added convenience.”

The company also said the packs would withstand fridge temperatures better.

Welcoming the wine rookie

It’s all true. Wine writers loaf around in a state of partial inebriation and partial undress, bitching about having to taste free wine all day and using recondite words like malolactic, terroir and recondite.
