First Quench seeks to fill buyer post

11 September, 2009

First Quench Retailing is recruiting a new buyer to join its team.

The company is looking for a replacement for Phil Edwards, who has moved to work in another part of the business. The current buying team includes ex-Sainsbury’s buyer Melissa Draycott, Ed Edwards and spirits buyer Nimisha Gohil.

FQR has also notified shops that its new in-house warehousing and distribution facilities will come into force this weekend (September 12-13).

In a memo to managers it said the changeover should take place without “any visible reduction to service levels”.

“When this changeover is fully implemented it should land a number of major benefits to the business. This includes a far more flexible operation; a significantly increased level of picking accuracy and stock management; a more pro-active and flexible service to stores, and the staff at the warehouse will be come FQR employees,” the memo said.
