Bottoms Up and Threshers names live on

The rights to former First Quench trading names, including Threshers and Victoria Wine, have been bought.

The chainís administrator, KPMG, has finalised a deal with SEP Properties, a Staffordshire business which has already picked up some First Quench shops.

The sale also includes The Local and Bottoms Up, but not Haddows. According to reports, the Bottoms Up name will be used to rebrand SEPís off-licence businesses while Threshers will be used for online trading.

It is understood that the new Bottoms Up stores will be aimed at the Majestic end of the drinks market.

So, George The Bear is back. Itís hard for some of us oldies to fathom, but there are those under, say, 40 who canít actually remember Hofmeister and feel the cultural jolt supplied by the return of both the bear and the beer whose marketing campaigns it used to front.
