Glenmorangie for collectors

Glenmorangie single malt has launched the first in an annual series of limited- release whiskies under the name Private Collection.

The Sonnalta PX whisky takes the first part of its name from the Gaelic word for “generous” and the second from the Pedro Ximinéz sherry casks in which it is given its final maturation.

Bill Lumsden, the company’s head of distilling and whisky creation, described it as “an extraordinarily rich, dark and absorbing malt whisky”.

He added: “I regularly travel to Spain to select the very best PX casks to use alongside our Bourbon barrels from the US.”?The whisky will have an rrp of £64.99.

Rosé tinted glasses

I was asked recently what I thought the biggest change had been in wine fashion in the past five years. My answer was unequivocal: sales of pink wines. From being a niche that expanded and contracted with the sunshine, rosé has subtly but steadily become a stalwart of many merchants’ ranges, with Provence firmly at the top and asked for by name.
