Goats do Roam’s ‘serious’ relaunch

The tongue-in-cheek Goats do Roam label is being relaunched in a bid to reposition the brand in a more serious light.

The new labels, featuring modern triangle-shaped goats inspired by an ancient Mesopotamian artefact, will be launched in spring 2010.

Goats do Roam marketing manager Chris B?ryant said the label was one of the first of the successful “critter” variety – labels based on animals – but the tongue-in-cheek name obscured how “well thought out and put together” the wines were.

“Dropping the widely recognised yellow label was not a decision we took lightly as it was a strong branding tool,”? said Bryant.

“?The change allows us to emphasise the blended nature of the wines, which the older label was not able to convey in a sufficiently innovative way.”?The newly labelled Goats do Roam Red 2008 and White 2009?, both have an rrp of £6.99?.

Rosé tinted glasses

I was asked recently what I thought the biggest change had been in wine fashion in the past five years. My answer was unequivocal: sales of pink wines. From being a niche that expanded and contracted with the sunshine, rosé has subtly but steadily become a stalwart of many merchants’ ranges, with Provence firmly at the top and asked for by name.
