Aussie trips for wine trade?A new travel company offering trade wine trips to Australia has been started by Tim Wildman MW. James Busby Travel is named after one of the founding fathers of the Australian wine industry and will run its first trip in October. Wildman said there would be “a strong emphasis on understanding terroir and small group tastings that add to a high-quality experience”. Those taking part will have access to a post-trip networking forum.

A first for Cloudy Bay?Iconic New Zealand wine brand Cloudy Bay has released the first parcel of its Riesling to be sold in the UK. The 2006 vintage will have an rrp of £22 and is available through Moët Hennessy UK. The dry wine has been produced since 2003 but is available mainly in Australia and its native New Zealand.

Wine Intelligence talks brands?Wine Intelligence has added another masterclass to its sessions at the LIWF. How Wine Branding Really Works will be held in the Wine Intelligence Theatre (stand K70), on May 20 from 11.30am-12.30pm. The event is based on an interactive teaching programme developed by Wine Intelligence for the Bordeaux Wine MBA and WSET courses. Visit to register.

Kopparberg does rock?Swedish cider brand Kopparberg has launched a campaign featuring an unsigned rock band in the hope of broadening its appeal. The ads feature Welsh band Joy Formidable and the theme Find Kopparberg. The campaign is running across cinema, press, outdoor and online.

Villa Maria’s Read movesNew Zealand wine firm Villa Maria’s European market manager Charlotte Read is returning home to New Zealand to take up the post of Asian market manager. Her old role has been split, creating the vacant position of UK market manager, while Bernard Budel takes up the role of European market manager.

Mas Belles Eaux releases roséLanguedoc estate Mas Belles Eaux has released its 2009 rosé wine in the UK through González Byass UK. The property was bought by AXA Millésimes eight years ago and managing director Christian Seely has refocused planting on classic regional varieties such as Syrah, Grenache and Carignan. The wine has an rrp of £8.99.

Moretti hosts pizza makingHeineken UK’s Moretti Italian lager is hosting beer and pizza-making evenings at London restaurant and cookery school La Cucina Caldesi. Two classes are being held each night on June 11 and August 13, costing £28. More information and bookings via
