Register to attend OLN’s agenda-setting seminars

This year OLN is holding two must-attend seminars. The first, Beyond three-for-£10: is premiumisation back on retailers’ agenda?, will see OLN editor Rosie Davenport chair a panel comprising Sainsbury’s BWS category manager Justin James, founder of Naked Wines Rowan Gormley, Andrew Shaw, wine buyer at Waitrose, and Ruth Yates, owner of Corks Out, discussing whether consumers are now willing to trade up. May 18, 11.15am-12.15pm, Wine Intelligence Theatre (stand K70).

The second event, also taking place in the Wine Intelligence Theatre, asks What’s the future for high street wine retailing? The panel will feature Oddbins’ managing director Simon Baile,

managing director of Butt Naked Drinks Jonathan Butt, owner of Amps Fine Wine Philip Amps, and Matthew Dickinson, commercial director at Thierry’s.

Rosé tinted glasses

I was asked recently what I thought the biggest change had been in wine fashion in the past five years. My answer was unequivocal: sales of pink wines. From being a niche that expanded and contracted with the sunshine, rosé has subtly but steadily become a stalwart of many merchants’ ranges, with Provence firmly at the top and asked for by name.
