GIV releases lower-alcohol Pinot Grigio

14 May, 2010

Gruppo Italiano Vini is releasing Prima Luna low-alcohol wines, which it predicts will be popular throughout the summer.

Part of the Fontana Candida range, Prima Luna wines are said to be characteristic of a standard Pinot Grigio, but with less alcohol at 9.6% abv. They are available in white and a rosé blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Merlot.

GIV has also revamped its Frascati Fontana Candida bottle, intending to reposition the brand as “modern, elegant and quintessentially Italian”.

GIV will be at next week’s LWIF with winemaker Andrea Lonardi on hand to host themed, tutored tastings. The company said it was particularly interested in targeting independents.
