McCoy’s will feature a competition in April called Are You a Real Fan?, designed to engage its target audience of young males. Consumers can enter via text or online at mccoys.co.uk for a chance to win one of 10 all-expenses-paid global football trips, including to World Cup host nation South Africa.
Football survival kits containing an inflatable chair, snack bowl, beer cooler and money-off next purchase of McCoy’s can also be won every 90 minutes.
McCoy’s will introduce two football-themed, limited-edition flavours – Chicken Winger and Sausage Striker –
in 50g packs (rrp 55p).
From May an on-pack promotion for KP Nuts will offer footie fans the chance to vote for their best football moment of all time and win prizes including mini-footballs and replica shirts, as well as a holiday to a “top football destination”.
Commercial manager Nick Stuart said: “The last World Cup alone generated an increase of 34% in savoury snack sales, as groups of people gathered together to watch the tournament.”
