The change coincides with the introduction of a new look 24-bottle case featuring a golden dragon on a background of red, white and black.
Sun Lik – the Hong Kong version of the San Miguel brand that originated in the Philippines – also has a new website with a dim sum guide, a Chinese phrase? book and information on the Sun Lik powerboat racing teams.
Brand manager Oliver Scott said: “The brown glass means the gold label appears stronger, achieving much greater impact and standing out more from the supermarket shelf.
“In a sense, we are going back to our roots as the brown bottle mirrors the original San Miguel stein bottle used in Hong Kong.”
