Employees rated the Johnnie Walker and Smirnoff firm most highly on opportunities for professional development in the report, which was topped by management consultancy Baringa Partners.
Changing attitudes to alcoholSix out of 10 British adults think alcohol should have health warnings, according to a new survey by You Gov. The study showed that 44% think alcohol can be bad for the health and a third have cut down consumption in the past year. One in 10 claims to have given up alcohol altogether.
St Mungo heads southGlasgow brewer West is launching its St Mungo lager in the off-trade in London and south east England. The 33cl bottles are being supplied through specialist beer wholesaler Utobeer. St Mungo is 4.9% abv and made in line with the German Reinheitsgebot beer purity laws.
Test purchase failures dropDerbyshire County Council has reported a two-thirds drop in the number of premises failing test purchases for alcohol in the past year. In 2009/10 there were 25 tests where alcohol was sold to under-age volunteers in 280 attempts. This compared with 77 illegal sales in 286 tests in 2008/9. The number of under-age sales of tobacco in test purchases remained unchanged at 14, but from almost three times as many tests.
Adnams bottles SpindriftAdnams has released its Spindrift ale in bottles for the first time. The beer has been available in cask for the past three years but is now appearing in 33cl blue bottles, with Adnamsí own Cellar & Kitchen stores listing it.
Retail sales down on last AprilLike-for-like retail sales in April fell 2.3% compared with a year ago, according to figures from the British Retail Consortium. Total sales fell 0.2%, but the figures were distorted by the fact that only half of the Easter weekend fell into the April reporting period this year.
