Elements 8 gets spicy

11 June, 2010

Elements 8 has created a barrel-infused spiced rum, which will be launched this month.

Elements 8 Spiced has been designed to create a “new tier of premium spiced rum”, according to co-creator Carl Stephenson.

It is made from a blend of fruits and spices which are 100% natural and indigenous to St Lucia, where Elements 8 rums are distilled. They include cinnamon, ginger, clove, star anise, vanilla, honey, nutmeg, orange, lemon and coconut.

Stephenson said: “We wanted to replicate what we did with Elements 8 Gold and Platinum, but this time for the spiced rum category.

“This is a sector that is yet to feature a super-premium version and we took our time – with an approach more akin to gin-making with our selection of botanicals – creating what we feel is the perfect blend.”?The new spiced variant will have an rrp of £29.99-£34.99.

Looking back to look forward

Wine is a liquid time capsule. Drinking older vintages not only recalls the weather conditions and winemaking styles of the past, it encourages us to reflect upon our own histories. Such reminiscence often inclines towards romanticised nostalgia. Especially after the second bottle. But looking back is a great way of learning about the future.
