The judges nosed, sampled and debated a wide range of Glengoyne’s malts before collectively selecting a 12-year-old sherry cask whisky with a 57.8% abv.
The panel also had to choose the whisky’s bottle shape, packaging, tasting notes, label design and wording.
The Scottish Merchants’ Choice is described as “?balanced with an underlay of chocolate, and an elegantly rich and fresh palate, with sundried fruits, pears and a hint of pepper”.
Only 284 bottles will be available with a?n rrp of £99.
