l Bacardi has launched a limited-edition Heritage bottle to celebrate 100 years since the creation of the Bacardi Daiquirí cocktail. Produced in Mexico, the bottle features Edwardian-style writing and will retail for £50 in Selfridges.

Malt whisky brand Jura and the Scottish Book Trust have launched a limited-edition book featuring poetry and art inspired by the island of Jura.

Bollinger Champagne ambassador Simon Leschallas has been named the new master of the Worshipful Company of Distillers, replacing Charles Maxwell, managing director of Thames Distillers. Leschallas will be involved in various education projects and charity work with Drinkaware and The Benevolent, of which he was chairman of last year.

First Drinks is rolling out a limited-edition Cointreau bottle created by French fashion designer Catherine Malandrino. The bottle is covered in Swarovski crystals and will be available in Selfridges with a £129.99 price tag.

Smirnoff has announced a six-month collaboration with Time Out to launch the Smirnoff & Time Out iPhone application. The free app will feature up-to-the-minute Time Out content including information on London-based events, restaurants and nightlife. It will be promoted via an online and print campaign in Time Out, features on smirnoff.com and Facebook, and PR activity.

Rosé tinted glasses

I was asked recently what I thought the biggest change had been in wine fashion in the past five years. My answer was unequivocal: sales of pink wines. From being a niche that expanded and contracted with the sunshine, rosé has subtly but steadily become a stalwart of many merchants’ ranges, with Provence firmly at the top and asked for by name.
