Malbrontes makes its first appearance

05 February, 2010

Las Bodegas is launching a blend of Malbec and Torrontés named Malbrontes, believing it to be the world’s first commercial production of the style.

Made in Mendoza by Mauricio Lorca, the wine is inspired by the wines of Côte Rôtie where a small proportion of Viognier is traditionally added to Syrah.

The 5% Torrontés in Malbrontes is said to add perfume to the nose while the palate is described as fresh, soft and approachable.

as Bodegas chief executive Laurie Webster said: “Almost everyone now realises how good Argentinian wines can be, but we also feel the country needs to try new things to increase its presence both here and in other markets.”
