Lusovini appoints Clink to enhance image

02 April, 2010

Portuguese brand-owner Lusovini has appointed Clink Wines as UK distributor in a bid to transform Portugal’s image from a provider of good-value wine to a source of premium wines.

Established last year, Lusovini comprises a management team of four partners who all left their previous company, Portuguese Wines, in an effort “to take marketing, branding, winemaking and authentic Portuguese wine varieties into a new era”.

“Portugal is a country with untapped potential,” said export director Pedro Dourado. “Lusovini’s strategy is to unite leading producers and winemakers from each region and develop joint venture, consumer-led, innovative brands, starting in the vineyard and ending with the best products that meet and excite the needs of consumers across International markets.”?Catherine Monahan, Clink Wines’ managing director, added: “Portugal is a sleeping giant.

“Its potential is enormous, but there is a lot of work to be done to educate the UK consumer and ensure that Portugal itself has a clear strategy for its marketing in the UK and internationally.”

usovini’s portfolio includes 19 brands from the eight wine regions in Portugal, including Flor de Nelas from the Dão.

The wines range in price, with rrps of £4.99 to £30.
