The vodka is described as “a smooth, mellow spirit with a pure taste, which includes notes of honey, vanilla and almond”.
It is distilled from winter wheat, from the southern steppes of Russia, blended with glacial waters from Lake Ladoga and incorporates a herb from Siberia called golden root – which lends the vodka a “soft taste”, according to the distiller.
The 70cl bottle will
retail for £20 and features a gold label and lid to differentiate it from the original Russian Standard variant, launched in September 2007.
It also comes in a gold presentation box.
Following its launch in Asda, Russian Standard Gold will be available in Selfridges from May and is distributed in the UK by First Drinks Brands.
