NZ imports sweet wine into the UK

16 April, 2010

New Zealand Winegrowers is waiting for the green light from the EU to import sweet wines into the UK for the first time.

European director David Cox told OLN: “A bilateral agreement is going to come into force on December 14, so we’ve decided to officially launch the category at the trade tasting.

“New World bilateral agreements already exist for Australia and California, but not New Zealand.”?The annual trade tasting will take place on January 12 at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London, and will feature 670 wines from more than 105 producers.

“We’ll have a separate table showcasing around 20 dessert wines, including late harvest, botrytised wines and ice wines,” Cox added.
