Magners owner reviews operation

25 June, 2010

C&C International is aiming to have an integrated Magners and Gaymer cider operation running by the end of summer.

The move follows the Irish drinks firm’s acquisition of Gaymer from Constellation earlier this year. The new operation will also include sales and marketing functions for Tennent’s bought in 2009.

Magners marketing manager Richard Barnes said: “We have begun planning the integration of our businesses and the creation of a combined portfolio, which will include Magners, Gaymers, Blackthorn, Olde English and, where applicable, Tennent’s Lager.

“By late summer we aim to have a single company, Magners GB, which will combine the existing Magners GB with Gaymer and brands supplied by Tennent Caledonian Breweries into national multiple retailers and wholesalers.”?Barnes added: “We are currently consulting with potentially affected employees from Magners and Gaymer about the structure of the combined business.

“This consultation is not yet concluded so it would be premature to speculate on any potential outcome at this stage.

“It is too early to say exactly how many roles will be redundant, but we are seeking to retain as many people as possible to help us to grow the new, combined business.

“We have a fair and transparent selection criteria which will be emp-

oyed equally for employees of both businesses.”

English wine: a happy harvest for Christmas

Happily they come, their cheeks ruddy with pride. Half an hour later they’re crawling over muddy clods with lacerated hands, drenched in claggy juice and cold sweat, as if ploughing through an endurance race.
