Beer profits up at Greene King

Greene King saw operating profit in its brewing company rise by 0.9% in the year to May 2, to stand at £21.4 million.

The result was achieved on the back of a 4.3% increase in revenue, at £97.9 million, with a strong performance from take-home, the brewer said.

Group pre-tax profit was £123 million, up 3.8% over the year on revenue of £984.1 billion, an increase of 3.1%.

Chief executive Rooney Anand said: “These results highlight the strength, agility and resilience of Greene King.

“We have delivered record revenue in an uncertain and challenging environment, making good progress in all of our businesses.”

The company said Old Speckled Hen now had 12% share of the take-home bottled ale market.
