The company – which also produces Sheep Dip and Pig’s Nose whiskies – said it saw the brand as part of a new wave of gins, including Martin Miller’s and Hendrick’s, which are bringing interest to the category
Spencerfield director Alex Nicol said: “When gin became the faashionable spirit in the 19th century, Edinburgh distillers produced a gin which was a direct copy of Dutch genever to cater for demand.
“Like the London distillers, they had everything they needed arriving in the port of Leith – sugar, spices, fruit and grain.
“We hope in a small way to revive Edinburgh’s fantastic distilling and liqueur manufacturing legacy and build upon it."
The pack design is inspired by the Art Deco movement to reference “the glory days of cocktails”, the company said.
The gin is bottled at 43% abv and has an RRP of £23.99.
