Greene King backs energy-saving campaign

Brewer Greene King is backing a campaign to get businesses to take more energy-saving measures.

The company is supporting the push by the Carbon Trust, which offers free carbon surveys to all businesses that have energy bills of between £50,000 and £3 million each year.

Surveys typically identify potential savings on energy costs of between 20% and 30% a year, according to the Carbon Trust.

Justin Adams, managing director of Greene King Brewing, called the surveys “the best piece of advice any business will get this year”.

He added: “There are all sorts of things that can be done to reduce energy consumption through mechanics and processes, but one of the best opportunities comes from changing the culture in the workplace.

“We managed to make savings of more than £200,000, simply by implementing a campaign called Turn It Off, aimed at staff, to help spread energy awareness.”

What makes wine special

Reaching the 50th instalment of Hemming’s Way is hardly the biggest milestone, but I don’t need much of an excuse to pour myself a glass of champagne before getting dressed. It’s a better reason than I had for all 49 other instalments, anyway. Not that that stopped me.
