Kids reveal parents’ drinking habits

One in two children say they have seen their parents drunk at some point, according to a survey for the BBC’s Newsround programme.

The survey, conducted by the children’s research specialist Childwise, revealed that 72% of children questioned said their parents drank alcohol and, of those, 70% thought they had seen them drunk.

Some 46% said they thought adults shouldn’t drink in front of children, while a third thought it was OK.

The survey asked 1,234 children aged 10-14 for their views.

Hofmeister may need more than the bear essentials to succeed

So, George The Bear is back. It’s hard for some of us oldies to fathom, but there are those under, say, 40 who can’t actually remember Hofmeister and feel the cultural jolt supplied by the return of both the bear and the beer whose marketing campaigns it used to front.
