Kids reveal parents’ drinking habits

09 July, 2010

One in two children say they have seen their parents drunk at some point, according to a survey for the BBC’s Newsround programme.

The survey, conducted by the children’s research specialist Childwise, revealed that 72% of children questioned said their parents drank alcohol and, of those, 70% thought they had seen them drunk.

Some 46% said they thought adults shouldn’t drink in front of children, while a third thought it was OK.

The survey asked 1,234 children aged 10-14 for their views.
