Jameson is screen heroIrish whiskey brand Jameson has been named official drinks sponsor of the Film4 Summer Screen series of events at Somerset House in central London from July 29 to August 8. Films being shown in the season include Kill Bill, Team America:World Police and Manhattan. The Pernod Ricard brand will be running a sampling bar on selected nights.
Theft over ID ‘embarrassment’ A solicitor defending a 21-year-old shoplifter said his client did it because he was worried about being asked for ID. Chester magistrates heard that Bradley Davies of Ellesmere Port stole cider from a Spar shop and RTDs from an independent. The solicitor claimed that on one occasion the shoplifter had the means to pay but “due to his diminutive stature” committed the offence rather than face the “embarrassment” of being asked for ID. Davies was fined £75 for each offence, plus £85 costs.
Ethletic Ehrmanns promotionEhrmanns has teamed up with ethical fashion brand Ethletic in a bid to attract younger consumers to the wine category. It will run an on-pack promotion with its Running Duck brand from Stellar Organics, giving 30% off Ethletic Fairtrade trainers. Marianne Fillion, marketing manager for Ehrmanns, said the neck collars were on 10,000 bottles and the promotion runs until the end of August.

Toast of the townDom Pérignon is to release its Vintage Champagne 2002 and the 1996 vintage of its Oenothèque Collection wine. The 2002 will be in selected top-end retailers from September with an rrp of £120, while the Oenothèque is on allocation only with a bottle price in the region of £200.
Eco-friendly wine launchMistral Wines has launched Green Bottle Sauvignon Blanc, a PET-packaged wine produced by Sancerre wine company Joseph Mellot, in the UK. The wine is being listed exclusively by independent chain Cambridge Wine Merchants with a price of £7.99.
