Hogan's Vintage Perry release

27 July, 2010

Warwickshire cider maker Hoganís has launched its 2009 Vintage Perry.

The product comes in 50cl bottles with an abv of 5.4%.

Hoganís founder Allen Hogan said: ďPerry is a wonderful drink with a heritage that belongs to the Midlands region, although it is so uncommon most people probably donít know of its existence.

ďBy creating a sustainable demand for the perry fruit, perry makers encourage growers to maintain their orchards and invest in new ones.

ďIt is vital that the decline in perry orchards is reversed and individual varieties are protected so that future generations can continue to enjoy this quintessentially English drink that was once famed and prized throughout the land.Ē

Hoganís Vintage is being listed by Waitrose in its Midlands stores.

What makes wine special

Reaching the 50th instalment of Hemmingís Way is hardly the biggest milestone, but I donít need much of an excuse to pour myself a glass of champagne before getting dressed. Itís a better reason than I had for all 49 other instalments, anyway. Not that that stopped me.
