Barwell managing director Des Harney said the aim of streamlining the company structure was “to allow our operations, suppliers and customers to benefit from increased efficiencies”.
Coe intends for Barwell & Jones – which it bought 18 months ago – to become the primary wine agency company within the Coe Group.
Harney added: “After assessing the business over the past few months we felt we should continue to build on its heritage as a well-respected wine agency.
“With further agencies being announced in the next few months, we decided this was a good opportunity to focus on the core business and give it a distinct identity within the group. We are actively recruiting personnel to satisfy the demand we are experiencing.”?Fiona Juby – formerly of Seagram and Foster’s Wine Estates – has joined the company as head of wine marketing.
John Coe, grandson of the founder of Coe Vintners has taken on the role of chairman of the whole Coe Group, which includes Coe Vintners, IDS, IDS Dubai, Barwell & Jones and Mangrove.
