17 September, 2010

Maxxium UK is heralding six new listings for port and sherry as positive signs for the future of the fortified wine category.

Tesco is listing 75cl and 1-litre sizes of Cockburn’s Special Reserve port and has added 1.5-litre bottles of Harveys Bristol Cream, 50cl Harveys Fino, and 75cl sizes of Harveys Reserve and Amontillado sherries to its range.

The supermarket already lists Bristol Cream in standard and 1-litre bottle sizes.

David Everett, off-trade sales director for Maxxium UK, said: “We believe there is a bright future for the fortified wine category in the UK and that the new listings will boost the profile of these delicious wines.”?Tesco fortified wine buyer Helen Johnston added: “Our recent category review has brought more excitement to the Tesco fortified range.

“Sherry is an integral part of the range and we are pleased to be working with Maxxium to offer more choice for our customers.”
