Jewell was trading controller at Spar and has also held senior buying roles at Sainsbury’s. She was also agency director at HWCG.

Jewell said: “My time at SPAR has given me a fresh perception of the wine industry, and a different viewpoint based on understanding what the customer needs in the convenience sector. I now look forward to using that experience at Tesco, across a wider area of the market and leading the product development and innovation for the future.”
Jewell, who gained her MW in 1997, has joined Graham Nash and James Griswood in Tesco’s product development team.
She will be responsible for Australia, Champagne, Germany and Portugal. Griswood will look after Spain, South America, USA, Western half of France, Eastern Europe and England.
Graham Nash will cover South Africa, Italy, Eastern half of France and New Zealand.
A spokeswoman said: “The product development mangers will take responsibility for sparkling, rosé, fine wine, large and small formats within their country areas. The team will be contacting relevant suppliers following full hand-overs in the next few weeks.”
