Lion strengthens Surfax line-up
Published:  29 October, 2010

Surfax has added beers from Sri Lankan brewer Lion to its range.

The company will be handling Lion Lager and Lion Stout, the latter of which was a favourite of late beer writer Michael Jackson. Bottles carry his endorsement of the brand as a “wonderfully assertive example of tropical stout”.

Lion has around 8% of the Sri Lankan beer market, according to Surfax, which will be selling 33cl and 62.5cl bottles.

Surfax managing director Peter Karsten said: “We specialise in taking unusual genuine imports into the UK and our portfolio is going from strength to strength. We are not interested in prosaic beverages; there’s nothing run-of-the-mill about our line-up.”
