The company claims the brand is the biggest-selling draught brand in the UK that is as yet unavailable in bottle format.
The bottled version will be on sale exclusively in Asda stores in the Bristol area until early 2011. An eight-pack of 50cl bottles will then be available from speciality beer supplier Vertical Drinks.
Butcombe is being contract-bottled by Fuller’s at a slightly stronger abv – 4.5% against 4% for the draught version.
The beer is brewed with Mendip Hills spring water, 100% Maris Otter barley and a blend of English hop varieties.
Butcombe managing director Guy Newell said: “This has been an excellent year and we have had to double our warehousing capability, as well as increase our yard and parking facilities to cope with the growth of the business.
“We are brewing 25,000 barrels of Butcombe beers a year and would expect bottled Butcombe to add a further 5,000 barrels over a three-year period.”
