A-B Inbev UK's third quarter volumes drop

03 November, 2010

A-B Inbev sales UK beer volumes in the third quarter of 2010 were down 9.7%.

The Stella Artois and Budweiser brewer said the result was influenced by “inventory adjustments” following the summer’s World Cup and “tough comparables as [the third quarter of 2009] was the strongest quarter in the previous year”.

A-B Inbev’s own beer volumes increased 3.8% in the first nine months of 2010 and market share improved.

Off-trade volumes grew 5.0% in the first nine months with a strong performance from Budweiser, which saw market share gains across the top retailers.

The brewer’s western Europe business saw a 4.5% fall in gross profits in the third quarter on a 5.5% decline in revenue.
