Williams and Parkinson join Wine Gang

Tim Atkin MW and Olly Smith have left the Wine Gang, the collective of wine writers which also includes Anthony Rose, Joanna Simon and Tom Cannavan.

They have been replaced by David Williams, the Observer columnist and OLN contributor, and Jane Parkinson, a freelance writer who began her career with Wine and Wine & Spirit magazines.

Wing Gang subscribers pay a £20 annual fee and can access detailed reviews updated monthly by gang members.

“The site is a really great idea,” said Williams. “I was flattered to be asked to join a team of the UK’s best wine writers.”?Added Parkinson: “The Wine Gang’s Christmas fair in London last weekend proved just what a vibrant and successful initiative it has become. It’s a real buzz to know I’ll be working with such great people on a fantastic concept that has lots of exciting plans for 2011.”?Atkin and Smith left the group because of other commitments. Smith said he was sorry to be leaving and added: “There is talk of me working with the Wine Gang next year on events.”

Hofmeister may need more than the bear essentials to succeed

So, George The Bear is back. It’s hard for some of us oldies to fathom, but there are those under, say, 40 who can’t actually remember Hofmeister and feel the cultural jolt supplied by the return of both the bear and the beer whose marketing campaigns it used to front.
