Local beer push by Oddbins

24 November, 2010

Oddbins is encouraging managers to source bottled beers from local brewers.

The move is a response to an 18% value increase in beer sales in its stores.

Breweries involved in the programme include Durham, Hook Norton, Vale, Compass, Westerham, Hopdaemon, Loddon’s and Dark Star.

A competition will be held with one beer being chosen for a national listing.

Buying director Ricard Verney said: “Store managers will buy directly from their local breweries, looking for the highest quality craft beers available in their area.”

Managing director Simon Baile added: “Brewers will be invited to showcase their beers to customers at tasting events in the stores, a change from our regular wine tasting programme, giving customers the chance to sample the beer and meet the brewers.”
