Managing director Jay Wright told OLN: “Before November we were averaging about 500 a day but that’s ramping up now to 600 a day.
“We’re also working alongside 600 partners at the moment, which include Lovefilm, Morphy Richards and Photobox – the names are endless. It’s double the amount of businesses from last year.”?Wright said the average bottle price was “around £7.99” and consumers were also hearing about Virgin Wines through word-of-mouth recommendations.
“People want to go to proven businesses which are commercially successful.
“Times are tough and people want to be confident in what they’re buying represents the best value.”?Wright also said consumers were being more experimental with white grape varieties.
“Riesling has definitely seen an increase in sales – people are trying new things with whites.
“The New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc surge has died down a little but varieties like Muscat and Riesling are going down really well.”
