Cherrygood secures listings in multiples

The founders of a new cherry juice brand are celebrating after achieving listings with all the major multiples in their first year of trading.

Cherrygood was founded in the summer of 2009 by John Heseltine and Martin Hall. Heseltine is the founder of the Lovejuice retail chain which he sold for £3.4 million in 2007.

The company is producing Original, Light and Cherry & Berry products, all sold in 1-litre packs, with listings in Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Waitrose.

It has seen sales climb to £1.2 million in its first financial year, in a juice and smoothies market which has declined by £114 million in the past two years.

The company claims its US-sourced ?Montmorency cherry juice has several health benefits including containing more antioxidants per glass than five portions of bananas, tomatoes, watermelon, peas or carrots.

Rosé tinted glasses

I was asked recently what I thought the biggest change had been in wine fashion in the past five years. My answer was unequivocal: sales of pink wines. From being a niche that expanded and contracted with the sunshine, rosé has subtly but steadily become a stalwart of many merchants’ ranges, with Provence firmly at the top and asked for by name.
