Aked returns 'home' to Asda wine team

16 December, 2010

Former Spar wine trading manager Liz Aked is back in the buying team at Asda.

She said: “It’s fantastic to have joined the young, dynamic and innovative team at Asda after 16 years at Spar.

“Being from Yorkshire originally, it feels great to be home. My role will involve buying from USA and South Africa while also working on the new UK bottling initiative and other projects.

“It’s great to see a friendly face and to be working with Asda’s Master of Wine, Philippa Carr, once again. It is such an exciting time for the entire team who are passionate about wine and delivering the best possible quality to our consumers. I’m honoured to be a part of it.”

Asda recently announced plans to source most of its wines directly from producers and to bottle more wines in the UK.
