Honours for drinks industry stalwarts

Three drinks industry figures have been recognised in the New Year’s Honours list.

Richard Everard, chairman of Leicester’s Everard’s Brewery, receives the OBE for services to the community. He is involved with 10 local charities including the Everard Foundation.

Brenda Hackett, marketing director of mead producer Lindisfarne, receives an MBE for services to the drinks industry.

David Long, former director of brewing at the British Beer & Pub Association, also receives an MBE for services to the hospitality industry.

The reasons Donald Trump should not be left in charge of a shopping trolley, let alone the keys to the White House, are plentiful and well-documented – from his use of the word “bigly” and lamentable business legacy to his dubious post-modern feminist principles, quite astonishing lack of political acumen and, most worrying of all, his bewildering hair.
